Hello.
In today's post I will make a short review of A curse so dark and lonely by Brigit Kemmerer.
First of all, I want to say that the cover is one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen, and it was, in fact, the main reason why I noticed the book.
My opinion on the book itself is quite mixed. I can't say that I did not like it because there were some pretty good moments, but I can't say that I really like it much because for me the main plot seemed to me rather flat .
The fact is, I'm not a fan of a retellings, and Beauty and the Beast is far from my favorites, which I think is one of the main reasons why I did not like the book that much. 

I was bored at the beginning and actually I started it once, but I left it just because it did not grab my interest. The second time I make myself to read it, but it just did not work out for me to the middle.
Fortunately, the second half of the book was much more interesting, especially the last chapter and how it ended.
The book was quite predictable, and the last few chapters with the plot twists were very welcome, though so late.
The characters were ... Okay, I guess. I can't say that I liked the two main characters Harper and Rehn, but Gray in turn won me. I hope that in the next book we will be able to find out more about him and his past.

The romance was obviously a cliché and I personally did not find any chemistry between the characters, but we'll see how things will turn out further.
Overall, I think that although it was not my book, there was a potential which, unfortunately, was not well developed. I hope that in the next book the author will develop this potential so I can enjoy it more!
